A lesson about soil

In 1976, an exceptionally large elephant herd gathered in Tsavo, Kenya, to look for water during a great drought.

This piece is a testament to the giant herds of large herbivores that have forever roamed the earth, and the replenishing effect they have on the soils.

Far from a destructive, climate-warming force they are depicted as, ruminants are the only tool to turn back the effects of state-subsidized, fertilizer-heavy, biodiversity- and natural-habitat-destroying plant agriculture. To again fill the soils with bacteria, fungi, plant roots, worms  and moisture which convert bedrock and sunlight into living earth. To again fill the grass with critters, meadows with flowers, rivers with fish and deserts with rain.
